A word of warning – if you can’t stand the heat, don’t enter the kitchen.

Tel Aviv is one of the hottest cities in the world. And you can interpret that both literally and figuratively – especially in summer. So, if you are up to the challenge, pack your bags and come spend the summer in Tel Aviv as it is doubtful that you will have a better time anywhere else on earth.

Tel Aviv may be a tiny city by world standards – just 32 square miles (52 km²) but what it lacks in size is more than compensates for with technique. TA is in your face, it’s “out there,” and there is so much going on 24/7 that you won’t know what to do first. And all this against a backdrop of consistently hot weather – think 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius) with 70% humidity day after day. This makes it feel closer to 100°F which ain’t exactly cool, yet somehow it manages to be in TLV.

You see, Tel Aviv is a young city, not historically speaking of course but rather demographically. Living in Tel Aviv is a rite of passage for many young Israelis. And it is these youngsters who bring with them the energy and exuberance that only youth can bring. They are who they are and are not afraid to show it. Consequently, anything goes in TA and it is very much a case of live and let live. Yes there are older people in Tel Aviv and even pensioners but even they seem to be hip and with the program.

And summer is when it all happens. The months of hot weather mean that the beach is even more of a focal point to Tel Avivians as an escape from their high-priced but tiny apartments. During this peak period, Tel Aviv luxury apartments are in high demand, so if you are looking to sow your wild oats in Tel Aviv over summer, now is the time to start booking to ensure that you will find the type of accommodation you seek.

Other than the beach, Tel Aviv is infused with amazing bars, cafes, restaurants, take-aways, shopping, and art galleries. In fact, whatever you seek is available in Tel Aviv, you just need to know where to look. Combine all the amenities with the weather and its inhabitants and you have an energy that is totally unique – an energy that can only be found in Tel Aviv. It is an addictive beat that attracts people, enters their body, and then their soul.

There is something happening in Tel Aviv all the time. From the refurbished port area with its shops and eateries to the latest night club, there is something for everybody and all are welcomed by the locals with open arms and big smiles. Israelis love visitors and it is part of the culture to welcome them and make them feel at home. Tel Aviv is a safe city and you can feel safe walking the streets in the middle of the night as you will seldom be alone.

So if having lots of fun with great local people and tourists from the four corners of the globe in a sultry environment is your “thing,” then you cannot look past Tel Aviv.
